Here is how this works in practice. Our team manages archive preservation within Romania's mature Bucharest post-prod sector, where facilities have prepared archive elements for global features and series for three decades. We build preservation-grade masters and parts elements designed to outlast any single distribution cycle: high-bit-depth image masters, discrete audio stems, M&E (music and effects) versions, textless and graphics-free elements, and full metadata records. Files are written to standardised, format-stable wrappers and verified with checksums, then ordered so a future site can reconform, re-grade or re-version without the first creative team.

Here is the short of it. We also handle migration of legacy material onto today's storage. Structured handover to studio or national archives. The workflow covers archive element specs, master preparation, QC and checksum verification, metadata cataloguing and secure handover. For shoots whose finishing was split across many facilities, we consolidate and watch the archive package from the Bucharest team, giving producers one accountable, fully logged preservation set covering each element of the completed project.

Here is the breakdown. Romania has a strong body-level culture of preservation, fitting for a country whose own worldwide celebrated cinema, the Romanian New Wave of Cristian Mungiu and Cristi Puiu, deserves safeguarding alongside a century of national film heritage. The country also protects extraordinary physical heritage, from the painted monasteries of Bukovina to UNESCO-listed Sighișoara, reflecting a national instinct for conservation. Data handling falls under EU GDPR, run by the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing, the ANSPDCP, supporting secure chain-of-custody for archive elements.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. The Romanian Film Centre (CNC), the CNC, gives a cash rebates of up to 45 per cent on eligible Romanian spend, and archive mastering carried out locally counts toward qualifying expenditure. Romania has serviced global shoots since the 1990s, from Anthony Minghella's 'Cold Mountain' onward, and as an EU member inside the Schengen Area, with the leu (RON) keeping rates competitive, it is a dependable base for long-term preservation work.
