Field Monitors

Here is how this works in practice. We give field monitors from the deep, mature rental base in Bucharest, built over three decades of servicing global shoots, in the screen sizes, resolutions and feature sets the camera department needs. Our team specifies the right units for the job: compact, high-brightness on-camera monitors with waveform, focus tools and LUT support for operators and focus pullers, and larger 17 to 32 inch displays for video village viewing.

Here is the short of it. Each monitor is professionally calibrated before delivery so colour reads accurately across the whole tracking chain. We source units compatible with the camera's SDI or HDMI output signals. Where the production needs distributed tracking, we pair the monitors with wireless video so directors and clients can watch without being tethered to the camera. HDR-capable monitors are ready for shoots grading to high dynamic range. Monitors are set up for delivery alongside the wider camera package, backup units travel with longer shoots, and our technicians stay on call to troubleshoot signal paths and swap gear through the schedule.

Here is the breakdown. Romania is one of Europe's most set up and cost-competitive production destinations. Its locations make real demands on field tracking. The high glare and reflective snow of the Carpathians. The bright open expanse of the UNESCO Danube Delta, demand high-brightness, daylight-readable screens, while dim heritage interiors at Bran Castle or Corvin Castle at Hunedoara call for monitors that hold shadow detail.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. As an EU member now inside the Schengen Area, Romania lets tracking gear move freely from elsewhere in the EU with no ATA carnet, so extra monitors cross-rented from regional houses reach set fast. Non-EU shoots still need a carnet. Mains power runs at 230V/50Hz. We plan battery and mains options for monitors used on remote locations. The temperate land-based climate brings cold, snowy winters that suit winter shoots but call for protecting screens against condensation, and managing reduced battery life, when monitors move between heated interiors and sub-zero exteriors.
