Here is how this works in practice. For very large shows, the biggest global releases at times split compositing across many facilities. We keep VFX oversight and shot consistency anchored with the Bucharest team so each effects shot holds together.

Here is the breakdown. Romania's locations and genre pedigree drive compositing demand: gothic interiors at Bran Castle. The Gothic-Renaissance Corvin Castle, where the horror 'The Nun' was filmed, the Carpathian wilderness, and built sets at MediaPro Studios in Buftea and Castel Film Studios all create plates that compositing brings to life with creatures, environments and effects. Romania has serviced effects-heavy global shoots since the 1990s, from Terry Gilliam's 'The Brothers Grimm' and 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance' to Tim Burton's Netflix series 'Wednesday'.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. The Romanian Film Centre (CNC), the CNC, gives a cash rebates of up to 45 per cent on eligible Romanian spend, and VFX compositing carried out locally counts toward qualifying expenditure. As an EU member inside the Schengen Area, with a deep, mature crew base and the leu (RON) keeping rates competitive, Romania is a cost-good base for visual effects finishing.
